Cloud Sync App

The Cloud Sync app allows you to sync RealWear Navigator with the cloud.

Cloud Sync is an application that allows customers to easily authenticate cloud storage drives like Microsoft OneDrive in order to upload tagged photos and videos captured in My Camera and browse cloud drives in My Files.

The app can be installed on your device from the Cloud Marketplace:
https://marketplace.realwear.com/app/com.realwear.cloudsync

Once installed, from the Home Screen, say "MY PROGRAMS" and then say “CLOUD SYNC” to open the app.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will these files be available for browsing when my RealWear devices are disconnected from the Internet? What about other Cloud Storage Platforms like Dropbox, Box and Google Drive?

A: Currently it is only possible to browse OneDrive files while connected to the internet. These are not yet synced and available offline. We are evaluating features such as download and the ability to support other cloud storage drives like Dropbox, Box and Google Drive as part of our device software roadmap.

Q: What’s the default behavior for Cloud Sync without configuration?

A: Without configuration, Cloud Sync will watch the default Photos (My Files>My Photos) and Video (My Media>Camera) folders available in My Files for changes only. Photos and videos will be automatically synchronized to OneDrive in a new folder called “RealWear Cloud Sync”. Inside this new OneDrive folder, Photos and videos will be uploaded in sub folders titled “Photos” and “Videos”.

Q: What if my company has a policy that requires admin approval that blocks me from authenticating to OneDrive via Cloud Sync?

A:

When going to authenticate with your Microsoft account into Cloud Sync, some customers may encounter an issue similar to the below:

"RealWear Cloud Sync requires permission to access resources in your organization that only an admin can grant. Please ask your admin to grant permission to this app before you can use it."

The reason this happens is that some customer IT environments only allow their users to use apps that are registered in the Microsoft Azure AD application gallery.

To enable Cloud Sync for your organization, IT administrators should complete the following steps in the Azure AD admin center:

  1. Navigate to “Enterprise Applications”, then select “RealWear Cloud Sync” (this should appear as the end user would have already tried to authenticate).

  2. Go to “Menu” then “Permissions”

  3. Next IT admins should “Grant admin consent for [insert Azure AD Tenant Name]

  4. Follow the login prompts (this can only be done by IT admins)

Now end users should be able to authenticate with Cloud Sync!

The following permissions are required by the Cloud Sync application:

Scope Purpose
openid Used to verify user identity with OpenID Connect.
profile Used to read basic user profile information (Name, Email).
Files.ReadWrite.All Used to provide full read/write access to OneDrive and SharePoint files for synchronization.
offline_access Used to obtain refresh tokens so Cloud Sync can maintain access for background synchronization.
