Device Configuration Guide
Configuration is applied from your Ari Business workspace, not on the headset. Open Devices or Groups and the configuration tiles appear. A setting applied to a group reaches every device in it.
Each tile holds the configuration for one part of the device software. A tile shows whether a configuration is currently set, and opens an editor when you select it. Changes reach the device the next time it syncs.
What you can configure
| Configuration | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Home Screen | Which apps appear on the home screen and in what order, the light and dark background images, and Kiosk Mode. |
| Pin Policy | Whether the device requires a PIN, and the PIN itself. |
| Camera | Where My Camera writes photos and videos. Both an image folder and a video folder must be given. |
| Language Selector | Which of the 23 interface languages a user can choose from. |
| Control Panel | Which settings a user can reach in My Settings on the headset. |
| Web Apps | The bookmarks that appear in Web Apps, each with a name, a web address and an icon. |
| Wifi Band Control | Whether the device uses the 2.4 GHz band, the 5 GHz band, or chooses automatically. |
| Cloud Sync | Which folders upload to OneDrive, where they land, and how long Cloud Sync waits before uploading. |
| Collaborate | Contacts and call behaviour for RealWear Collaborate. |
| NTP Server | The time server the device synchronises against. |
| Deploy Wi-Fi Configuration | Which of your stored wireless networks the device should receive. |
Collaborate, NTP Server and Kiosk Mode need a Pro or Ultra workspace. A tile you are not entitled to shows a padlock.
Pin Policy, Language Selector and Control Panel have no separate article: each opens a list you tick, and needs no explanation beyond what is on the screen.
Which settings Control Panel can hide
The Control Panel configuration is a list of the settings a user is allowed to reach. Everything is available until you set a configuration; once you do, only what you tick remains.
| Action Button | Adaptive Brightness | Ari Speech-to-text |
| Ari Timeout | Ari Toggle | Auto-Rotate |
| Bluetooth | Brightness | Color Mode |
| Dictation | Display Size | File Sharing |
| Flashlight | Help Command | Microphone |
| More Settings | Mouse | My Programs |
| Noise Cancellation | Power Options | Preferred Network |
| Telephoto Mode | Touchpad | Volume |
| Wear Detection | WearML Indicators | Wired Microphone |
| Wireless Network |
Not every device offers every setting, so the list you see is shorter than the one above and depends on the device you are configuring: a setting the hardware does not have never appears. Configuring a group shows a setting if any device in that group supports it.
Editing the raw configuration
Each editor has an Advanced view holding the JSON that will be sent to the device. Use it to read back a configuration that was written elsewhere, or to set a key the editor does not expose. A configuration that the editor cannot represent opens in the Advanced view on its own.
Removing a configuration returns that part of the device to its defaults.
