      Firmware Release 12.6 Release notes (HMT-1)

      This document provides release notes for RealWear HMT-1 firmware release 12.6, which is updated to the latest security patch, additional features, and minor bug fixes.

      Overview

      This release is applicable to the HMT-1. Any HMT-1 sold by RealWear may update to this release. Earlier updates may need to be installed before 12.6.0 can be installed.

      Target General Availability Date: June 5th 2023 

      Emergency Maintenance Release: September 25th 2023

      Android Security Updates

      Security updates released through the end of February 2023 have been incorporated into this release.

      Support for RealWear Cloud Wifi Management

      • Allows devices to receive Wi-Fi settings sent and managed from RealWear Cloud PRO accounts.

      Support for RNDIS to enable USB network tethering.

      • Support for RNDIS to enable USB tethering from RNDIS supported cell phones to allow network connectivity to be shared from cell phone to RealWear HMT series devices.

      Webview change 

      • From MR12.6 - Only a signed WebView application can be installed on a RealWear device
      • By default, no change will be made for our current implementation of Webview v94
      • Developers can now choose from the RealWear-shipped Webview version of v94 or the secondary WebView implementation if required.  Contact RealWear support for details.

      Bug Fixes and Known Issues

      Bug fixes and improvements have been made for this release. Contact RealWear support for any details on specific fixes or issues.

      Regulatory Compliance

      Due to regulatory compliance, the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band is disabled for devices sold to Israel and Bahrain.

      Security updates released through the end of February 2023 have been incorporated into this release.
