Front and rear microphones

Some devices have microphones in two places: in the display pod, pointing at your mouth, and in the frame. The pod microphones cancel noise best and are what the device uses by default.

The frame microphones are there for when the pod is not in front of your mouth, which happens on a device whose display swings out of your line of sight.

Press the Action Button three times quickly to switch between them. The device plays a sound and says on screen which set is now live, and the message stays up while the rear microphones are in use so you are never in doubt.

A device with only one set of microphones ignores the triple press.

Automute

Automute mutes the microphones when the device is not being worn, so a headset left on a bench does not act on what it hears.

Say "MY SETTINGS", then "MICROPHONE", to turn it on or off. The tile shows which it is.

While the microphones are muted the device shows a red warning and does not respond to voice. Press the Action Button once to bring them back.

Noise cancellation

Noise cancellation is what lets the device pick your voice out of a loud environment.

Say "MY SETTINGS", then "NOISE CANCELLATION", to choose how hard it works. A quiet office and a factory floor want different settings, and the automatic option covers most of what is in between.

Turning noise cancellation off entirely is a separate thing, done with the Action Button set to Noise Capture. That is for letting a recording or a call carry the sound of the equipment around you.
