Cloud Sync

Cloud Sync signs your device in to Microsoft OneDrive. Once it is signed in, the photos and videos you capture go up on their own, and your OneDrive folders appear in My Files alongside the ones on the device.

Installing Cloud Sync

Cloud Sync is not on the device out of the box. Install it from the marketplace at marketplace.realwear.com, or have it pushed to the device from Ari Business Cloud.

Then say "MY PROGRAMS" and "CLOUD SYNC" to open it.

Signing in

Sign in with the Microsoft account you use at work.

If your organisation uses Conditional Access and manages the device through Intune, use the ADVANCED SIGN-IN OPTION. The simpler device code sign-in can fail in that setup, because it does not always tell Microsoft that the device is compliant.

What gets uploaded

Without any configuration, Cloud Sync watches two folders:

It watches for new files. It does not upload what was already there when you signed in.

Browsing cloud files

Once signed in, your OneDrive appears in My Files. You can open files from it the same way you open files on the device.

This needs a network connection. Cloud files are not copied to the device, so they are not available when the device is offline. Other cloud storage services are not supported.

For IT administrators

"Cloud Sync requires permission to access resources in your organization that only an admin can grant" means your tenant only allows apps that an administrator has consented to.

To grant it, in the Microsoft Entra admin centre:

  1. Go to Enterprise Applications and select RealWear Cloud Sync. It appears once a user has tried to sign in.
  2. Go to Permissions.
  3. Choose Grant admin consent for your tenant and follow the prompts.

The permissions Cloud Sync asks for:

Permission Why
openid Confirms who the user is.
profile Reads the user's name and email.
offline_access Keeps access alive so uploads can continue in the background.
Files.ReadWrite.All Reads and writes the OneDrive and SharePoint files being synchronised.

Cloud Sync is built on the same Microsoft authentication libraries as Collaborate, so a tenant already set up for one has most of the groundwork done for the other.
